Course Descriptions
Game Design
Have you ever wanted to create your own video game?

Q.  Is there an age requirement for your courses?

A.  The typical ages of students who take our courses ranges from 10 years to 17 years. However, we have had students as young as 8 years of age who have been able to keep up in class just fine. It is more an issue of ability rather than age, and so we do not set an age requirement.

Q.  What time do students need to be dropped off and picked up?

A.  Morning classes run from     8 AM to 12 PM, and afternoon classes run from 1 PM to 5 PM. Please do not drop off your student earlier than 15 minutes prior to class, and please pick up your student as promptly as possible after class.

Q.  What do students need to bring to class?

A.  Everything your student needs for class is provided, and so there is nothing to worry about bringing.  Concessions, such as candy and beverages, will be available for purchase.

Students receive step-by-step instructions on how to create two-dimensional video games. Students will decide everything from the title screen, background, sound effects, number of levels, what characters look like, how they move and what actions they take. Students will create two fully-functional games during the week. The first game they will create is a multiple level maze game where the main character collects objects in the maze for points, while dodging enemies that take away lives, with the goal of earning the top spot in the high score table. Make your game even better by adding hidden doors and giving your main character the ability to destroy enemies. Students will end the week by designing a platform game that is similar to the very popular Super Mario Brothers game created for the Nintendo game console. This course fills up fast; be sure to register as soon as possible as space is limited.

Cartoon Animation
Have you ever wanted to create a fully-animated cartoon?

Students enrolled in our Cartoon Animation course will learn how to bring computer-generated drawings to life using powerful animation software. Students will decide every detail of their cartoon animations from the backgrounds, sound effects, and speed of playback to what their characters look like and how they behave. They will also learn how to make title screens containing built-in playback controls and how to post their cartoons on the internet. Impress your family and friends with your very own cartoon animation!  Every student receives a certificate of completion and a CD containing the animations they created during the week. Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded to the top cartoon animators (as voted on by peers).

Digital Scrapbooking
Welcome to the future of scrapbooking!
Students enrolled in this course will use the same creativity used during their normal scrapbooking projects to create scrapbooks on the computer. A benefit of digital scrapbooking is that there is no longer the worry of spending too much money on supplies. You can use your digital embellishments over and over again without having to purchase new supplies for new pages. Also, digital scrapbooking is not as messy and less storage space is required. Students will also be able to share their scrapbooking projects more easily. Imagine e-mailing your latest scrapbook to friends/family or publishing your digital scrapbook on a website for all to admire. Digital scrapbooking is the future of scrapbooking!  Every student receives a certificate of completion and a CD containing the scrapbook pages they created during the week. Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded to the top scrapbookers (as voted on by peers).
